THE DAYOUB TIMELINE
McDonald’s incident later led to a simple-assault charge. Dayoub denied wrongdoing.
Washington County authorities filed criminal charges tied to three encounters while Dayoub served in Smith Township.
A judge dropped the remaining charges after the district attorney said Dayoub cooperated in an unrelated grand-jury investigation.
Dayoub sued Washington County officials, alleging false arrest, malicious prosecution and discrimination based on Syrian ancestry.
Springdale hired Dayoub part-time, then full-time that October. Smith Township fired him that year after its chief accused him of falsifying a report; Dayoub disputed misconduct allegations.
Springdale council appointed Dayoub acting chief; he served until a full-time chief was hired.
Former chief Julio Medeiros alleged in a civil complaint that Dayoub showed habitual insubordination and conduct unbecoming. The borough denied wrongdoing; the suit later settled.
